Short story format for submission

For all of you who'd like to see their short stories in print, here are two links about the proper formatting:
Generally, it seems, the formatting aims at reproducing the output of a typewriter, because--allegedly--editors are used to reading stories that way, and also because it makes typesetting easier. While it has been suggested that for longer works like novels, proportional and serif fonts (for example, Times New Roman or Georgia) are preferred, which are easier on the eyes, I used this formatting when I submitted a short story to Dream Catcher Magazine--and it got accepted :-)
